Ask "How many Revit seats are free right now?" in the Now Assist panel. Get the
real number, from your live OpenLM tenant, in seconds. No report to run, no
dashboard to open, no message to the licensing team.
OpenLM MCP Connector turns your software license estate into something you can
simply talk to. Four specialist AI agents sit behind one conversation: one knows
what is free right now, one knows how demand has moved, one knows what you own
and what is expiring, one knows what is running on your engineers' machines.
Ask, and the right specialist answers.
So the questions that never got asked now take ten seconds. Which licenses went
unused last quarter. Who is holding the seat an engineer has waited three days
for. Whether last year's renewal quantity still makes sense. Software asset
managers, procurement and IT leadership all ask directly, instead of queuing
behind the one person who knows the licensing tool.
Nothing is copied. Fifteen read-only tools query your own tenant at the instant
you ask, so the answer is never yesterday's, and no licence data is stored in
ServiceNow. Every answer respects the OpenLM permissions of the identity that
authorised the connection. Setup is a single choice — US or EU — and the fifteen
tools are yours to reuse in AI agents of your own.
• Ask license questions in plain language in Now Assist — no reports to build.
• Four specialist AI agents: availability, usage, portfolio, endpoint telemetry.
• 15 read-only tools query your own OpenLM tenant live; nothing stored in ServiceNow.
• Answers scoped to the authenticated OpenLM identity's own permissions.
• One-step setup — the client registers itself with DCR and PKCE.
• Reuse the OpenLM MCP tools in your own AI agents and use cases in Agent Studio.
Initial release.
OpenLM MCP Connector connects your ServiceNow instance to OpenLM Cloud and lets users ask software license questions in natural language through Now Assist.
What's included
- OpenLM License Intelligence use case, surfaced in the Now Assist panel, which routes each question to one of four specialist AI agents.
- Four specialist agents: License Availability (free seats, named-user holders, server health, recent denials), Usage Analytics (usage hours, concurrency, denial trends), License Portfolio (inventory, procurement and renewals, unused licenses, allocations, user records) and Endpoint Telemetry (dongles, processes, web touchpoints).
- Fifteen read-only MCP tool bindings covering fourteen distinct OpenLM tools. The connector performs no writes to OpenLM and stores no OpenLM license data in ServiceNow.
- Connection & Credential template with OpenLM Cloud region selection. Choosing United States or Europe supplies the MCP endpoint and the full OAuth endpoint set for that region, and the connector registers itself with OpenLM using Dynamic Client Registration (RFC 7591) as a public PKCE client. No client ID or secret needs to be obtained, and all traffic including authentication stays within the selected region.
- Two application roles. Execution of every agent and of the orchestrating use case requires x_oplm_mcp_conne_0.user or x_oplm_mcp_conne_0.admin; users without a role can neither discover nor run the agents.
- Reconnect diagnostic page. Identifies a stale OAuth client registration, an expired token or an unreachable OpenLM endpoint, and guides an administrator through the fix. The page is read-only and never modifies your configuration.
Known limitations
- The connector supports one active OpenLM connection per instance. It is not domain-separated and is not intended for MSP deployments.
- Answers are scoped to the single OpenLM identity used to authorize the connection.
Requires Now Assist Pro Plus or Enterprise Plus, AI Search active and the Now Assist Panel activated. Any ServiceNow Otto for [product] must be available
- ServiceNow Australia Patch 1 or later.
- At least one ServiceNow Otto for [product] package installed and active — for example Otto for ITSM or Otto for HRSD.
- Now Assist Pro Plus or Enterprise Plus subscription. AI Agents are licensed as part of Now Assist and are not sold separately.
- AI Search must be active on the instance before installation.
- The Now Assist Panel must be activated. Non-administrator users additionally require the now_assist_panel_user platform role.
- An active OpenLM Platform Cloud account, with an OpenLM identity permitted to read the tenant's reporting data.
An active OpenLM Platform Cloud subscription, with the OpenLM MCP Server enabled for the tenant.
An OpenLM useridentity permitted to read the tenant's reporting data is required to authorise the connection; the data visible through this application is exactly the data
that identity can see in OpenLM.
No MID Server, middleware, dedicated hardware or third-party licence beyond the
OpenLM subscription is required. No specialist skills or certifications are
needed beyond a ServiceNow administrator for the one-time connection setup.
